Where Flowers &
Families Come to Bloom
From a Backyard Dream to a Field of Blooms
The journey of Dirt & Grit Farm began with Hannah’s love for the simple things: backyard chickens, home gardening, and a small patch of flowers in Lincoln, Nebraska. That passion traveled across the country to Woodruff, South Carolina, where a new chapter began.
In 2020, Jake and Hannah purchased a property rich with history—a farm lined with 100-year-old Pecan trees planted by the family before them. They fell in love with the old farmhouse and a piece of land they knew had the potential to bring the community together. More importantly, they wanted a place to raise their four children, teaching them to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation through the values of hard work and discipline.
A Vision Built on Faith and Family
What started with animals, produce, and a few tulip bulbs quickly grew into a specialized vision. Hannah found her true calling in the beauty of flowers, sparking the idea for a Tulip U-Pick experience.
Recognizing the massive undertaking required to turn this dream into a true destination for the community, Jake and Hannah reached out to family—Ashley and Justin—to join forces. Together, they have grown the farm into the year-round destination it is today.
The Dirt & Grit Farm Crew
Our Journey So Far
We measure our growth not just in rows, but in the memories made in our fields.
Planted 50,000 tulips.
Expanded to 70,000 tulips.
Planted 80,000 tulips and introduced our first Summer and Fall seasons, featuring pumpkins and seasonal blooms.
We plant over 100,000 flowers annually across more than 50 varieties.
The Meaning Behind the Name
Dirt & Grit means what it says. We didn't build this farm because it was easy. We built it because we believed beauty is worth working for—that the mud on your boots and the ache in your back at the end of the day means something.
"Dirt"
is the earth we tend.
"Grit"
is the faith that keeps us at it—through every seed planted, every field cultivated, every animal fed, and through every season that asks more of us than the last.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
— Galatians 6:9
Every spring, our fields come alive and prove that verse true. We plant, tend, and show up as a promise—to the land, to our family, and to every family that walks through our gate. May you leave here carrying proof that the most beautiful things grow through the hardest seasons.
